The
Tree of Life Windows in the FMC chapel bring
together spiritual images of religions and
cultures from around the world. The stained
glass magnificently frames the view of gum
trees which suggested the theme for the windows.
The artist, Cedar Prest, worked closely with
staff, community members and members of many
cultural groups to plan, design and create
the windows. All people, whatever their culture
and beliefs, are invited to visit the Chapel
to reflect or pray, and the windows add a
unique inclusive dimension to the Chapel’s
welcoming environment. The project was financially
supported by the Volunteer Service for FMC
Inc, and the Flinders Medical Centre Foundation.
From the left of the Windows, the images
are as follows.
Yggdrasil, the Scandanavian World
Tree.
This image represents regeneration and is
a celebration of the God Odin who conquered
death.
